Comfortable and well appointed, with everything you could need (and more!). The private garden had wonderful views from the bench overlooking the fields with the only noise coming from birds, sheep, cows etc. Loads of walks from right outside the cottage with William only too happy to help out with any suggestions and recommendations. Along with the website there was a ton of useful stuff info, thoughtfully put together as a visitor information pack. Any regrets? Yes. We should have bought more of Joan's pottery!

We have really enjoyed our stay at Hooks Barn. It is a lovely and cosy cottage offering everything you need to make your stay comfortable. As we arrived on one of the hottest days ever recorded in the UK, we really appreciated the cool beer and cider that William had put in the fridge.

First impressions of the host, location and property caused us to relax knowing that we had made a good choice!! Brilliant local information provided, nice welcome of bottles of local cider, homemade flapjack and chocs. Plenty to do in the area - it was a really relaxing weekend.
Have already recommended it as a destination to a couple who need a break. Friendly and informative host.

Perfect for a couple on a getaway. In a great location..everywhere we wanted to visit was within approx 15/20 minute drive. Couldn't fault the cleanliness and amenities. Enjoyed a couple of nights in just relaxing. The owners, who live right next door, are very welcoming and friendly, also very handy if there are any questions about the locations of sights or if there are any issues (there was none).. but just in case..
Dont take my word for it, Go visit yourself... you'll love it.

Excellent little cosy barn. Better than the pictures show. It was really peaceful and remote which is just what we wanted. Kitchen was well equipped, bed was comfy, lovely shower. You can access the forest of Dean so easily and Ross on Wye is a ten minute drive if you want a big shop or meal out.

A really lovely cottage, in a wonderful setting. On arrival a very warm greeting which made for a great start for our stay. There are plenty of things to see and do in the surrounding area, and for the more energetic lots of walks in the nearby countryside. We really hope to return before long.

Our weeks stay at Hooks Barn was truly wonderful. It had everything we needed and was very cosy and comfortable. The welcome was very warm, and the little touches such as the homemade flapjack and cider were lovely (and delicious!). Although we didn’t get the best of the weather we still got to enjoy the garden with it's beautiful views on a couple of mornings with a good cup of coffee. The barn is perfectly located. You get the benefits of a gorgeous quiet rural setting whilst only being 10-15 minutes away from Ross on Wye and its local shops and supermarkets. We were able to get to both Bristol and Hay on Wye in an hour for a day out. And of course there is loads of fantastic walking, literally from the doorstep (the old goldmine walk is a lovely little route to stretch the legs) and further afield at places like Symonds Yat. After these days out exploring it was great to have such a lovely base to go back to and relax. Thank you to William and Joan for a fabulous week at Hooks Barn. We look forward to visiting again in the furture.

Couldn’t have asked for a more delightful place to spend a week in the Forest of Dean. A welcome gift of flapjacks and cider was much enjoyed. The gardens (3 to choose from! ) are beautiful with lovely views and provided a great place to unwind after a busy day. The location was perfect: close to all the places we wished to visit. In a word: excellent!

We were looking for comfort, convenience and a beautiful location from which to explore Herefordshire and surrounding area. This cottage was perfect in every respect. The owners are obliging and helpful, and all the information, maps, booklets, required for a short stay were available - from places to eat, to walks and sights to see. The cottage is conveniently situated but also benefits from an idyllic rural setting.

Thank you so much for our stay in Hooks Barn. We had an excellent week. The accommodation was perfect for two, with all the amenities we could have needed. It was a cozy, relaxing retreat in beautiful surroundings. William was a friendly host who welcomed us and showed us around. There were books, maps, games and dvds available. The cider, chocolates and flapjacks provided on arrival was a lovely touch, as was the vase of freshly picked flowers from the garden - in December!

We spent 2 nights at hooks barn over the weekend and had an amazing time. We were greeted by William who was very friendly and showed us around where we would be staying. The facilities are great and a very high standard and it's made even more special as most of the kitchen pottery is made by Joan! The area has lots to do, and we would definitely stay here again, thanks very much William and Joan!

We had a great weekend in this lovely little cottage to celebrate my birthday. The hosts were welcoming and even left us some local cider,
homemade biscuits and chocolates which were delicious. The cottage itself was nicely decorated, with wild flowers in several of the rooms,
and had all the amenities needed for cooking etc. The garden is a lovely space for sitting outdoors with nice views, BBQ, breakfast etc. The cottage was a perfect base for us to explore the local area, with lots of really enjoyable walks nearby.
