Berkerley Castle
Well worth a visit. (reopens in April 22). Great guided tour (mostly inside). Its place in history is significant, not just because it is still intact, but because the Berkeley family and their home have played an important part in the power struggles of so many centuries.

Goodrich Castle
Goodrich stands majestically on a wooded hill commanding the passage of the River Wye. The castle was begun in the 11th century, by the English landowner Godric who gave it his name. During the Civil War, Goodrich was held successively by both sides, The visitor centre features an exhibition exploring life at the castle from its late 11th century origins until its dramatic fall in 1646, including Civil War artefacts.

Cannop Cycle Centre
Cannop Cycle Centre is the starting point for the Forest of Dean Cycle Trail
which consists of eleven miles of waymarked, surfaced tracks.
Two singletrack trails have been designed for cyclists looking for a more adventurous ride. The 3 mile red grade (difficult) Freeminer Trail
and the 7 mile blue grade (moderate) Verderers' Trail.
For experienced riders only, there are a number of 'downhill' trails. and an uplift service available, Flyupdownhill, for transport to the top of the slopes.
You can hire bikes on site, or bring your own.

Horse riding and trekking in the Forest of Dean Greenacres Stables is a small horse riding centre located just a mile or so up the road from Hooks Barn, in Lea.
